That breadth is the real trick. Most people visit an eclipse page because something dramatic is about to happen next month. A researcher, teacher or obsessive sky watcher may instead want to know what happened on a specific date hundreds of years ago, compare Saros cycles, or follow a series forward through time. Static catalogs are extremely good at this because every event has a stable address.
The site’s eclipse pages are associated with Ian Cameron Smith and are cited in astronomy articles, educational material and references alongside resources from NASA and other established eclipse catalogs. The presentation is much plainer than current interactive map tools, but the underlying value is similar: turn orbital mechanics into a navigable historical record.
