These are old photographs given another pass through time.
This set contains three historical portraits of Lizzie Borden that have been digitally restored, enlarged and colorized from surviving black-and-white source images.
The work focuses on recovering a cleaner, more natural-looking photograph while keeping the original face, expression, pose, clothing and composition recognizable.
Restoration Work
The source photographs show the normal limitations of nineteenth-century photography and later reproduction: softness, grain, faded tonal range, lost fine detail and accumulated image noise.
Each image was processed to improve clarity and resolution, rebuild damaged or poorly resolved areas where necessary, and restore a more photographic appearance.
The goal is not to redesign the subject or produce a fictional modern portrait. It is to make the surviving photograph easier to see.
Colorization
Color was added to skin, hair, clothing and surrounding material using the original monochrome image as the structural reference.
The colors are interpretive. A black-and-white photograph does not contain reliable information about exact eye color, fabric color, hair tone or many other original colors.
Where that information is unknown, the restoration uses restrained, historically plausible color rather than claiming certainty.

What This Product Is
This product is the digital restoration and colorization work performed on historical photographs.
The underlying historical images may exist elsewhere in their original black-and-white form. The value here is the cleanup, enlargement, reconstruction and colorization needed to produce the finished images in this set.
Accuracy Note
Restoration can recover and clarify information visible in the source photograph, but it cannot recover information that was never recorded.
Fine texture, color and heavily degraded details may therefore contain reconstruction. These images should be treated as restored interpretations of historical photographs, not forensic reproductions.
