AstroNuclPhysics is what happens when one person decides a normal personal homepage is nowhere near large enough. Vojtech Ullmann built an interconnected library covering nuclear physics, radiation, medical imaging, relativity, astrophysics, cosmology, electronics, philosophy, sacred music, photography and—because apparently the universe still had room left—a Japanese garden.
The site’s structure is immediately old-school. It openly explains how to navigate its frames: lists on the left, documents on the right, with full-screen versions available for readers who want to concentrate on one title.
Nuclear Medicine Next to Black Holes
The scientific core is substantial. Sections cover radiation detection, X-ray diagnostics, scintigraphy, radiotherapy, radiobiology, antimatter, cosmic radiation, gravitational lenses, black holes, wormholes and cosmology.
Ullmann also tries to connect disciplines rather than keeping them in separate boxes. A medical reader may encounter nuclear physics and particle interactions; a physicist may end up reading about biological radiation effects or medical diagnosis.
That cross-linking feels less like a modern course platform and more like being allowed into somebody’s enormous private notebook.
The author says the pages are continuously revised, acknowledges damaged formulas and imperfect conversions, and explains that many of the images were personally drawn or photographed. That visible roughness is part of the site’s character. It is not pretending to be a frictionless publishing product. It is a working body of material assembled over time.
Then the Website Wanders Off
The further you explore, the more personal the project becomes. Alongside astrophysics are pages about fireplaces, a smokehouse, a Japanese garden, electronics, Indian and Tibetan music, Orthodox and Western Christian music, photography and personal memories.
There are also essays on science, religion, society and politics. Those are explicitly presented as the author’s own views rather than as extensions of the scientific material.
This mixture is exactly what old personal websites did well. A modern publisher would split these subjects into separate brands because analytics says the audience for scintigraphy may not convert well on pergolas. AstroNuclPhysics does not care.
It reflects the structure of one person’s interests rather than the structure of an advertising market.
For researchers, that makes the site valuable in two ways. The technical material can still be useful, while the site itself documents a style of independent scientific publishing that is becoming rarer: one domain, one author, years of work, and absolutely no concern that black holes and backyard construction might confuse the algorithm.
