Floyd Magnet School’s 1998 attempt to exchange packets with the Mir space station missed the first pass. The next day’s make-up reached 27 schools or stations. The page preserves the equipment, messages, students, and glitches—not a frictionless success story. Sometimes the most useful STEM lesson is that orbit, radio mode, and schedule all have to cooperate.
